Social activist Martins Otse, better known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has once again taken aim at billionaire businessman Aliko Dangote after a deadly truck accident in Edo State claimed three lives.

The crash happened along the busy Auchi–Benin highway on Sunday, near Omega Fire Ministry. According to reports, a Dangote cement truck suffered a brake failure and rammed into three other vehicles, including a Mercedes-Benz GLK. Two men and a woman were killed instantly, while one other person was injured. The Federal Road Safety Corps confirmed the accident and listed mechanical failure as the cause.

Reacting to the incident, VDM released a heated video where he blasted Dangote and his company, accusing them of failing to properly regulate and monitor their drivers. He argued that many of the drivers operating Dangote trucks do not have valid licenses and described the repeated crashes involving the company’s vehicles as an avoidable tragedy.

Visibly furious, VDM said he had arrived in Benin to take action and threatened to mobilize support to stop Dangote trucks from passing through parts of Edo, especially Auchi, unless something is done to curb the accidents. He also used harsh words against Dangote, holding him personally responsible for the lives lost.

His comments, however, stirred debate online. While many Nigerians agreed that the Dangote Group should be held accountable, others felt VDM went too far. One social media user questioned his approach, asking, “Is Dangote the one driving the trucks?”
