Wizkid Becomes the First African Artist to Reach 9 Billion Streams on Spotify
Nigerian music star Ayodeji Balogun, known worldwide as Wizkid, has just hit a major milestone, surpassing 9 billion streams on Spotify across all credits. This makes him the first African artist ever to achieve this on the platform.
Leading the pack is his global hit One Dance with Drake and Kyla, which alone has racked up a staggering 3.7 billion streams. The song is one of the top 10 most streamed songs in Spotify’s history and also holds the Guinness World Record as the first track to cross 1 billion streams on the app.
Among his solo catalog, Essence featuring Tems stands out as his most streamed lead single, pulling in over 303 million streams to date.
Nigerian singer Timaya has spoken about elections, urging Nigerians to think carefully about their choices and the longer-term consequences of their votes.
Speaking on the state of the country, he said Nigerians have choices and should be intentional about them.
“Nobody dey advise anybody. If na wetin you dey find to chop now put for your pocket, na your business. No be one day o. Na another 4 years of hardship. If you know what’s good, you have to vote right.”

Nigerian singer Rema has sparked reactions online after revealing the streamers he watches for entertainment.
The singer shared a list of popular streamers he follows, naming Enzo, Fanum, Agent, Kai Cenat and Okiki.
“The only streamers I fvck with are Enzo, Fanum, Agent, Kai Cenat, and Okiki.”
After he mentioned his list, Nigerians reacted and shared how some notable Nigerian streamers were not on the list, with many calling out their favourites for not being recognised by the singer.
Nigerian singer and producer Young Jonn has made headlines after calling on his colleague, Blaqbonez, for a possible collaboration.
The singer Young Jonn took to social media and excitedly shared “I need like 5 bad friends way we go dey move in bulk!” Young Jonn wrote.
Blaqbonez then replied, wanting to join: “Oya, make we dey together, sing as one.”
The singer replied with an old post from 2015 that said, “Go sing as one with Coublon.”
