At least 20 people, including a baby, have died after an overcrowded boat sank on the Lukenie River in the Western Democratic Republic of Congo over the weekend. This tragedy follows a similar incident in July, where 25 people died in a boat sinking on the Congo River, and a 2019 disaster on Lake Kivu that claimed around 100 lives.
