Former Barcelona star Yaya Toure has revealed his choice for the best teammate he played alongside during his time with the Blaugrana, naming Andres Iniesta as his top pick over legends Lionel Messi and Xavi.

In a recent interview, Toure reflected on his illustrious career at Barcelona, where he had the privilege of playing with some of the greatest footballers in history.

Despite Messi’s unparalleled skills and Xavi’s incredible football IQ, Toure admitted that there was something truly special about Iniesta.

Iniesta, who recently brought his legendary career to a close with his retirement, stood out in Toure’s eyes as a player who possessed a unique quality that set him apart from his teammates.

“Messi was at the top, Iniesta was at the top, and Xavi was great, but I have to say Iniesta,” Toure shared.

He went on to describe the experience of playing alongside Iniesta as extraordinary, saying that the Spanish midfielder brought something “different” to the pitch.

“Playing with him, wow! It was something else,” Toure added, expressing his admiration for Iniesta’s distinctive style of play.

Toure, a towering Ivorian midfielder, spent three successful years at Barcelona from 2007 to 2010, where he won numerous domestic and international titles, including LaLiga and the UEFA Champions League.

During his time at Camp Nou, Toure was part of a golden era for Barcelona, a team widely regarded as one of the best to ever grace the sport.

The midfield trio of Iniesta, Xavi, and Toure, combined with Messi’s brilliance up front, formed the backbone of Barcelona’s dominance during that period.

After leaving Barcelona in 2010, Toure went on to join Manchester City, where he helped transform the club into a Premier League powerhouse, winning multiple league titles and domestic cups.

Despite the success he enjoyed in England, Toure’s time at Barcelona remains a defining chapter in his career, largely due to the iconic teammates he played alongside.

His admiration for Iniesta speaks volumes about the impact the Spanish maestro had on the pitch, not just for Barcelona but for football as a whole.

Iniesta’s ability to control the flow of the game with his vision, dribbling, and precise passing made him one of the most influential players in modern football.

Although Messi’s goal-scoring feats and Xavi’s metronomic passing often grabbed headlines, it was Iniesta’s subtle brilliance that left a lasting impression on Toure.
