Governor Yusuf Rallies Kano for NNPP Victory, Vows to Protect Voting Rights
Kano State governor Abba Kabir Yusuf recently took the stage at the Sani Abacha Stadium, rallying support as he handed over candidacy flags to New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) representatives set to contest in the upcoming local government election.
As Saturday’s election draws closer, Yusuf urged both the candidates and the people to remain determined and proactive, making it clear that he expects a focused effort toward securing victory.
In a message to NNPP candidates, Yusuf encouraged them to approach the election with well-thought-out strategies to ensure success, emphasizing the importance of this election for Kano’s future.
Speaking to the crowd, he said the NNPP represents the progress the Kano people seek, calling on the community to back the party through their votes on Saturday.
He also called on Kano’s electorate to vote consciously and responsibly, highlighting their role in moving the city toward a promising future.
Stressing the value of each vote, Yusuf reminded the crowd of the impact of local government in shaping everyday life, from healthcare access to public infrastructure, and urged everyone to take their role in these decisions seriously.
The governor also addressed those who might attempt to disrupt the election process, warning that any efforts to deny people their right to vote and have their voices heard would be met with firm resistance.
He emphasized that the NNPP stands with the people and will stand up for their rights, asserting that every eligible voter in Kano has a right to cast their ballot freely and safely.

Tonye Cole Speaks on Governor Fubara’s Leadership
Tonye Cole speaks out on Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s emergence and continuation as the Governor of Rivers State.
He shared his thoughts, saying the governor likely consulted with his close allies before making key decisions.
“My assumption is that the governor would have gone with his own close allies, discussed with them, and said that this is the best way, that he has to move forward for the next six months or thereabouts of his administration. I would assume that’s what he did.”
“But I am not in his chamber, so I wouldn’t know. But that’s what I would assume he would do.”
He added “But having taken the responsibility to come and finish his term, then he has to finish it in the way that allows him to govern. He can’t go back into fighting.”
