Controversial American media personality, DJ Akademiks, recently started discussion when he claimed that Burna Boy is a more successful artist than American rapper Gunna.

Akademiks made this statement during an episode of his podcast, where he also weighed in on the rumours surrounding Burna Boy and Gunna’s ex-girlfriend, Chloe Bailey.

He pointed out that Chloe’s apparent interest in Burna Boy should not be seen as a step down from her past relationship with Gunna, but rather an upgrade.

“They just keep showing up together,” Akademiks said, referring to Burna Boy and Chloe’s recent outings.

“Remember, she used to date Gunna. Now she’s getting cosy with Burna Boy.

I keep telling you, women don’t date down, they date up.”

He argued that Burna Boy has surpassed Gunna in terms of global success, despite Gunna’s popularity in the United States.

Akademiks stated that Burna Boy’s international acclaim, particularly in Africa and other parts of the world, places him ahead of Gunna in terms of overall career success.

“I don’t care if Gunna might sell more records in the U.S., Burna Boy is a more successful artist worldwide,” Akademiks continued.

“He’s an international star. That’s just the fact. So, Chloe being with Burna Boy is not a downgrade.”
