Merson Says Arsenal Must Win Big at Home to Beat Real Madrid
Former Arsenal star Paul Merson has shared what he believes the Gunners must do to beat Real Madrid in their Champions League quarter-final clash.
Speaking ahead of Tuesday night’s first leg at the Emirates, Merson said Arsenal must make the most of their home advantage by grabbing a convincing win if they want to stand a chance in Madrid.
According to him, a narrow win won’t be enough. “They need at least a two-goal lead before heading to Spain,” he told Sky Sports. “One goal might not cut it.”
He pointed out that although Real Madrid have been shaky lately, especially in defence, their ability to rise to the occasion in Europe remains a big threat.
“Even when they’re not in top form, they always deliver in the Champions League. That’s what Arsenal should be worried about,” he added.
Captain of the Morocco national team, Achraf Hakimi, has shared his thoughts on the controversial topic surrounding AFCON 2025.
It can be noted that the team was accused of taking towels belonging to opposition goalkeepers during matches, which sparked criticism from fans and observers, with many calling for consequences.
Hakimi expressed his disappointment over the situation, stating “I don’t feel proud about the image we gave off with the towels. Even though that happened, the team did well in the competition. We showed respect for our opponents in the tournament.”
Ademola Lookman has praised Atlético Madrid following their 2–0 victory over Barcelona.
It can be noted that the match ended 2–0, with goals scored by Julián Álvarez and Alexander Sørloth.
Speaking in a recent interview, Lookman commended the team’s performance and unity “It was a good result. The performance of the team, especially not to concede here, shows the work everyone’s been doing and the togetherness.”
