Grammy-winning Nigerian artist Burna Boy has opened up about his transformation, telling fans that the old version of himself is gone for good. In a message shared on Instagram about his upcoming album, ‘No Sign Of Weakness,’ Burna Boy said Nigerians played a part in ending the ‘African Giant’ era of his career.

He explained that the new version, which he calls ‘Big 7,’ exists to protect what’s left of Burna Boy’s heart after the old self was lost. He wrote, “The ‘African Giant’ Burna Boy died. His own people killed him. Then ‘Big 7’ was born to protect what was left of ‘Burna Boy.’ Burna Boy and Big 7 fight a lot because while Big 7 protects the last piece of Burna Boy’s broken heart, the ‘African Giant’ still haunts him.”
