Fans Mock Neymar and Say He Will Never Win the Ballon d’Or
Neymar Jr. faced heavy mockery from Sport Recife fans during their 2-2 clash with Santos over the weekend, with many taunting him over his chances of ever winning the Ballon d’Or.
The Brazilian star, who returned to Santos earlier this year after a difficult stint at Al-Hilal, was targeted throughout the match. Fans brought loudspeakers, wore masks of his ex-girlfriend and actress Bruna Marquezine, and held banners aimed at rattling the former Barcelona and PSG forward.
One bold banner read, “Will never have the Ballon d’Or,” a jab that seemed to hit home as Neymar failed to contribute any goals or assists during the game. Recife supporters did everything they could to throw him off his game.
