Seun Kuti Critiques Nigerian Artists’ Spending, Highlights Father’s Wealth
Seun Kuti, son of Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti, recently shared insights about his late father’s wealth and criticized contemporary Nigerian artists for their extravagant spending. In a recording, Seun recounted that his father, Fela, generously provided for everyone in the Kalakuta Republic, supporting over 500 people daily. Seun revealed that as a child, his daily pocket money exceeded his teacher’s salary.
He recalled an incident where his sister tore a N50 note, prompting teachers to ban students from bringing such large amounts to school and to limit them to N5. Despite this, Seun admitted to hiding money in his socks to disobey the rule.
Seun criticized current Nigerian singers for their frivolous spending on luxury cars and lavish lifestyles, likening their behavior to that of politicians. He also highlighted that the money he was supposed to inherit was instead used to care for the less privileged. This is not the first time Seun has called out artists; he previously criticized Diddy over his assault case with Cassie.
Popular rapper Cardi B has issued a strong warning to individuals who stole and used her credit card.
It can be noted that the rapper had earlier expressed her frustration on social media after discovering her card was stolen and used before it could be frozen.
She later revealed that the stores where the transactions occurred captured clear images of the suspects, and she intends to pursue justice.
“I got clear pictures of you all in Saks and in Apple. One thing about me is that I don’t play with my money. You all are going to jail,”.
Nigerian singer Wizkid has reacted to the reported clash between Burna Boy and DJ Tunez.
Wizkid took to social media to mock Burna Boy, making controversial remarks and referencing Sean Diddy Combs.
His comments have since sparked reactions online, with fans divided over the ongoing tension between the artists.
Nigerian gospel singer Moses Bliss has reacted to the public backlash he faced following a request he made to graphic designers.
It can be noted that the singer took to social media asking for a graphic designer to create a flyer, which later turned into a challenge that many criticised, stating it undervalued creatives.
Moses Bliss has now issued an apology, saying “I sincerely apologize to every graphic designer who felt disrespected or undervalued… that was never my intention.”
He added “The goal was to give creatives a platform to showcase their work, not to undermine their value.”
