Rema Revamps Afrobeats in New Album to Preserve Genre’s Integrity

At his London album listening party, Rema urged Nigerian artists to reclaim ownership of Afrobeats to prevent foreign artists from co-opting and winning awards in the genre. He emphasized that continually diluting the music would make it easier for others to recreate it, warning that this would lead to losing the unique essence of Afrobeats.
Rema’s new album ‘HEIS’ showcases his bold creativity, featuring energetic production, dynamic delivery, and authentic Afrobeats lyrics with a rockstar edge. The album’s launch has received mixed reactions, with some praising his innovative approach and others debating the quality of the output. Rema’s message remains clear: Nigerian artists must protect and own their music to preserve its integrity and cultural significance.
