NFVCB Responds to Controversy Over Upcoming Film Featuring Niqab-Wearing Bank Robbers
The National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB) has addressed the backlash over a movie poster showing actresses robbing a bank while wearing niqabs.
The poster sparked outrage among Muslims, leading the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) to demand a ban on the film, calling it “satanic.”
In response, the NFVCB clarified that the film is still in production and has not been submitted for classification. The board assured the public that the producers are working to address the concerns raised.
The NFVCB emphasized its commitment to not overlook creative works that abuse or undermine religious, cultural, and ethnic sensibilities.
The NFVCB’s statement reads: “Our check revealed that the movie has not been released, and it has not been submitted to the NFVCB for classification as required by law and our mandate.
We have been able to reach the producers of the film and have taken steps to address the concerns raised.”
The board also reaffirmed its dedication to contributing to the positive transformation of Nigerian society through film classification, balancing freedom of expression with the need to prevent social, cultural, and religious harm.

Isaac Fayose Criticizes Government Over Taxation and Insecurity
Nigerian businessman Isaac Fayose has spoken about what he considers one of the country’s biggest problems, stating that many Nigerians are worried about government taxation, insecurity, and the increasing rate of kidnappings for ransom.
He lamented the situation and criticized the government, arguing that these issues have become deeply rooted and that there appears to be no lasting solution in sight.
According to him “In Nigeria we have two governments. One is collecting tax, the other one is collecting ransom. Both of them have one thing in common which is to make life difficult for their people.
The one that is collecting tax without doing anything will come and share you rice and semolina. The one that is collecting ransom is doing giveaway on social media.”
