In a message on his X handle, former Kano State Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso congratulated President-elect Donald Trump and his team on their recent election victory in the United States.

Kwankwaso, known for his significant role in Nigerian politics, praised Trump’s historic political comeback, calling it a remarkable achievement that will be studied for years to come.

He drew a parallel with his political journey, recalling his return to power in 2011 when he won the governorship in Kano State after losing the election eight years earlier while serving as governor.

This kind of comeback, Kwankwaso noted, requires deep commitment, resilience, and unwavering support from the people.

Kwankwaso’s message is significant and it shows the respect he has for Trump’s ability to regain the highest office in the U.S., despite facing challenges and setbacks.

He remarked, “Such a return requires immense commitment, dedication, hard work, resilience, and exceptional love and support from your people.”

His words underscore the emotional and logistical demands of such a journey, and he expressed admiration for Trump’s perseverance in the face of opposition.

In his post, Kwankwaso also commended the outgoing administration led by President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic party’s presidential candidate, for facilitating a peaceful and transparent election process.

Furthermore, he lauded their dedication to democracy, highlighting their willingness to concede and ensure a smooth transition of power.

According to Kwankwaso, the actions of Biden and Biden, a seasoned politician and former vice president under Barack Obama, focused his administration on issues like climate change, healthcare, and strengthening ties with international allies.

His administration, along with Harris—who made history as the first woman and person of colour to serve as vice president—has championed values of inclusivity and democratic integrity.

Kwankwaso used this opportunity to appeal to the U.S. government to support efforts aimed at reinforcing democracy and democratic institutions in Nigeria.

Also, he emphasized‎ that Nigeria, a country with one of the largest populations in Africa, faces challenges with maintaining free, fair, and peaceful elections, and he urged the U.S. to help ensure that the people’s will, as expressed at the ballot box, is upheld.
