Rasheedat Ajibade got emotional after being named Player of the Match in Nigeria’s 2-1 win over South Africa, saying she didn’t feel she deserved the honour. It was her third consecutive award in the tournament, but this time, she broke down in tears as she received it, choosing instead to give credit to her teammates.

Ajibade had opened the scoring for Nigeria with a first-half penalty, before South Africa’s Linda Motlhalo equalised from the spot. The game was sealed in dramatic fashion when Michelle Alozie’s deep cross slipped past the South African keeper in stoppage time, sending the Super Falcons into the WAFCON final.

Speaking after the match, Ajibade said, “I honestly don’t think I deserve this. It’s all by God’s grace, and I dedicate every single one of these awards to my teammates. This is a team effort, not just about me.”
