American Actress Shelley Duvall Passes Away at Age 75

Shelley Duvall, the acclaimed American actress, has passed away at the age of 75. Her partner, Dan Gilroy, confirmed her death, stating that she peacefully passed away in her sleep due to complications from diabetes at their home in Blanco, Texas, on Thursday.

Gilroy expressed his deep sorrow, saying, “My dear, sweet, wonderful life partner and friend left us. Too much suffering lately, now she’s free. Fly away, beautiful Shelley,” as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

Duvall’s career began with notable roles such as in the 1970 dark comedy ‘Brewster McCloud,’ and she achieved acclaim by winning the Best Actress award at the Cannes Film Festival for her performance in the 1977 drama ‘3 Women.’

She gained further recognition starring as Olive Oyl alongside Robin Williams in Robert Altman’s musical adaptation of ‘Popeye’ in 1980.

Despite her early successes, Duvall later experienced a decline in Hollywood opportunities and was absent from the screen for two decades before returning in 2023 with ‘The Forest Hills.’

Throughout her career, she was most celebrated for her roles in iconic films such as ‘The Shining,’ ‘Annie Hall,’ and ‘Nashville.’
