Ancelotti Shows Full Support for Mbappé After Penalty Miss Against Liverpool

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has come out in full support of Kylian Mbappé after the French forward missed a penalty during the team’s 2-0 loss to Liverpool in the Champions League.
The match saw the 25-year-old striker have the opportunity to level the score at 1-1 after Alexis MacAllister had given Liverpool the lead, but his penalty attempt was saved by Liverpool’s goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher.
Mbappé’s miss was one of several key moments in the match, as Mohamed Salah also missed a penalty for Liverpool, firing his effort wide.
However, Liverpool quickly capitalized on their chances, with Cody Gakpo scoring a second goal from a corner to seal the victory for the Reds.
Despite the disappointing result, Ancelotti was quick to rally behind his star player, offering words of encouragement in the aftermath of the match.
“Mbappé has all of our support,” he said. “He is an extraordinary player, and we have no doubt that he will soon turn the situation around. We just need to be patient with him.”
The manager also praised Mbappé’s overall performance, acknowledging that the young forward has been adapting well to the team’s tactics and style of play since joining Real Madrid.
Ancelotti emphasized that Mbappé’s character and skill are unquestionable, and it’s only a matter of time before he regains his sharpness and continues to shine for the team.
Mbappé has been one of the most exciting talents in world football, and his move to Real Madrid has been widely regarded as a significant moment in the club’s future.

Arteta Confirms Ødegaard Will Remain Arsenal Captain Despite Recent Struggles

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has addressed the ongoing rumors surrounding Martin Ødegaard’s captaincy, making it clear that the Norwegian midfielder will not be stripped of the armband. Speculation had surfaced following a string of disappointing performances from the team, including their Champions League exit. Despite this, The Athletic reports that these rumors are unfounded, and Ødegaard is set to retain the captain’s role for next season.
After a knee injury sidelined him for almost three months, Ødegaard’s form has dipped, with only one Premier League goal since the start of the year. His impact was also lacking during Arsenal’s Champions League semi-final tie against Paris Saint-Germain, where the Gunners lost 1-0 in both legs.
Despite calls from pundit Mark Lawrenson for Arteta to consider handing the captaincy to Declan Rice, Arsenal is reportedly confident that Ødegaard will remain as captain when the new season begins. The 24-year-old was appointed captain in 2022 after Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette’s departures.
