Former Newcastle United striker Alan Shearer has shared his predictions for some of the key Premier League matches this weekend.

Liverpool are currently sitting 13 points clear at the top and will host bottom-placed Southampton at Anfield. Arsenal, meanwhile, will aim to close the gap when they visit Manchester United at Old Trafford.

The weekend’s action will kick off with Nottingham Forest taking on Manchester City as Forest continue their push for a Champions League spot.

Speaking to BetFair, Shearer said Forest’s impressive season could get even better. “Imagine them finishing in the top four and winning the FA Cup — that would be huge for Forest fans,” he said, predicting a draw.

On Liverpool’s clash with Southampton, Shearer expects a comfortable win for the Reds. “After that tough game against PSG, playing Southampton at home is exactly what Liverpool would want before facing PSG again on Tuesday,” he said.

For Chelsea’s game against Leicester, Shearer believes the home side will come out on top. “Leicester have been struggling, and with Chelsea playing at home, I can’t see any other result,” he said.

As for Manchester United versus Arsenal, Shearer is backing the Gunners to take all three points. “Arsenal had an easy game the other night, while United are still dealing with their issues. I’m going for an Arsenal win,” he added.
