Brazilian football star Neymar has tested positive for COVID-19 for the second time. His club, Santos, confirmed the news in a statement, revealing that the forward began showing symptoms on Thursday, June 5, and has since been receiving treatment.

“After showing signs of a viral infection, Neymar Jr. underwent lab tests that confirmed a COVID-19 diagnosis,” the club said. “He has been away from team activities and is being treated for the symptoms.”

Neymar had previously tested positive for the virus back in 2021 during his time at Paris Saint-Germain. Although he remains Brazil’s all-time top scorer with 79 international goals, the 33-year-old hasn’t played for the national team since suffering an injury against Uruguay in October 2023.

He also missed the 2024 Copa America and was left out of Brazil’s current World Cup qualifying squad, led by coach Carlo Ancelotti, for matches against Ecuador and Paraguay.

Şener Warns Galatasaray That Signing Osimhen Could Lead to Financial Trouble

Turkish football pundit Ertem Şener has warned Galatasaray against making a permanent move for Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, saying the deal could ruin the club financially.

Galatasaray are reportedly eager to land the Nigerian forward this month after his sensational loan spell, where he netted 37 goals in all competitions and helped the team dominate the Turkish league.

But Şener believes the cost of securing Osimhen long-term is far too risky. He pointed out that the total package—transfer fee and wages—could climb to around €150 million.

“I don’t support the idea of Galatasaray signing Victor Osimhen permanently,” Şener said. “Spending €25 million per year on salary and up to €75 million on transfer fees is a direct path to financial collapse.”
