Bobrisky Expresses Desire to Return to Kirikiri Correctional Centre After Release

Controversial Nigerian cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, famously known as Bobrisky, has made headlines again by revealing his desire to return to prison.

In a recent interview on the popular show *Curiosity Made Me Ask*, hosted by content creator Bae U Barbie, Bobrisky opened up about his experience in Kirikiri Correctional Centre, where he served a six-month sentence. Surprisingly, he described the experience as more of a break from his busy lifestyle.

Bobrisky was incarcerated on April 12, 2024, following his conviction for violating Nigeria’s currency laws by spraying naira notes at social events.

Justice Abimbola Awogboro of the Federal High Court in Lagos handed down the sentence, which did not include an option for a fine, sparking debate among the public.

The court ruled that his actions violated the Central Bank of Nigeria’s policy on handling the national currency, but the decision remains controversial among his supporters.

The internet personality, who was released on August 5, 2024, after completing his sentence, spoke candidly during the interview about how he viewed his time in prison.

According to Bobrisky, the punishment felt more like a retreat than a punishment. “I see my jail term as a vacation. You know, on vacation, you go and rest.

I’ve been working so hard, and I think their decision was okay for me,” he explained. “The decision was meant to break me, but nothing happened to Mummy of Lagos. I’m still fine, I’m still good, and I will continue to be fine and good.”

When asked by the show’s host if he would consider returning to prison, Bobrisky’s response shocked many. “I would love to go, maybe for a short term like that again. Short-term, not long-term,” he said with confidence.

He further elaborated that his imprisonment was unjust, as he felt he had done nothing wrong. “I have never seen anywhere you are going to sentence someone to prison for spraying money.

It’s funny to me. Everything happened like a movie. Spraying of money? It’s my money. I’m not owing anybody, I did not steal, I did not kidnap, I did not rape, and I did not kill anybody.”

Bobrisky went on to argue that his sentence was not only unusual but unfair, emphasizing that he was being punished for simply spending his own money.

“I spent my own hard-earned money, and I was sentenced to where we have a lot of criminals. But like I always say, I’m a very strong person. If I have chosen this lifestyle to be who I wanna be, then I should be ready for the worst,” he said defiantly.

Despite having served time, Bobrisky firmly rejects the label of an ex-convict, asserting that his conviction was not justified.

“I’m not an ex-convict because I can’t be convicted for spraying money. So I won’t accept it,” he declared during the interview.

The cross-dresser’s statement has reignited public discourse on Nigeria’s legal system and the treatment of individuals accused of non-violent offences.

Bobrisky’s fans and detractors alike have taken to social media to weigh in on his comments, with many questioning the necessity of his imprisonment.

Bobrisky’s flamboyant personality and unapologetic attitude have long made him a polarizing figure in Nigerian society.

While some view him as a trailblazer for self-expression and individuality, others see him as a controversial figure who pushes boundaries.

Regardless of the public opinion surrounding him, Bobrisky seems determined to continue living life on his terms, with or without prison looming over his future.
