Cha Eun Woo, the multi-talented star of K-pop boy group ASTRO and a well-loved actor, is officially set to begin his military service on July 28, 2025. His agency, Fantagio, shared that he’ll be joining the Republic of Korea Army’s Military Band, where he’ll serve following his basic training.

Instead of fading quietly before enlistment, Cha Eun Woo is doing the opposite. He’s been working hard behind the scenes to finish a solo album. Sources close to him say the album and its music videos are already complete and will be released before he officially joins the military. This solo project is meant to serve as a final “thank you” to his fans for their years of love and support.

On July 12, just weeks before his enlistment date, Eun Woo held a fan meeting titled “THE ROYAL” at Peace Hall, Kyung Hee University in Seoul. The event drew thousands of Arohas (ASTRO’s fans), who came to show their love and send him off with warmth.

A few days after the fan meeting, Cha Eun Woo traveled to Japan for another scheduled event. But his appearance at Gimpo Airport turned into a scene of chaos. A large crowd of fans and media swarmed him as he walked through the terminal, which caused serious safety concerns. Despite bodyguards trying to control the situation, the crowd got too close. Videos from the moment went viral, and many fans voiced their anger online, saying the idol deserved better and that his personal space should have been respected.

Cha Eun Woo will quietly report to his enlistment center on July 28.

To avoid crowds and keep things safe, his agency has decided not to reveal the time or place. There will be no official public event, and Fantagio has asked fans not to gather. Once enlisted, he’ll complete his training and then begin duties as a member of the Army’s military band, likely performing at events and military ceremonies for the next year and a half.
