Destiny Etiko Slams Nigerians for Celebrating Big Brother Naija Amid Crisis
Nollywood actress Destiny Etiko has criticized Nigerians for their excitement over the return of Big Brother Naija Season 9 despite the country’s economic challenges. The annual reality show kicked off on Sunday, July 28, featuring 28 housemates in pairs, with the theme “No Loose Guard,” promising thrilling twists for the next 10 weeks.
In a post on her Instagram page on Monday, Etiko expressed her displeasure that Nigerians are celebrating the TV show while many are struggling to survive. She lamented that people are hungry and urged that attention be focused on the country’s pressing issues.
She wrote: “Our country is in crisis, and I still see people happy about BBN. Do you still have enough money for data? If no one complains, then who am I to? I am mainly concerned about the poor masses. Just because you can survive doesn’t mean everyone can. Crime is rampant, and insecurity is the norm, yet everyone is calm. The sooner we address these issues, the better.”
