El-Rufai Leads Delegation to Seek Atiku’s Daughter’s Hand in Marriage
On Wednesday, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar welcomed a delegation headed by Nasiru El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, to his residence in Asokoro, Abuja.
According to a statement released by AbdulRasheed Shehu, Special Assistant to the former vice president, the purpose of the visit was to officially seek the hand of Atiku’s daughter, Hafsat Atiku Abubakar, in marriage.
“His Excellency Atiku Abubakar welcomed the family of Kashim Imam, led by former Kaduna State Governor Nasiru El-Rufai, to his Asokoro residence. The delegation came to formally request the hand of his daughter, Hafsat Atiku Abubakar, in marriage.
“Prominent dignitaries at the event include the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, and former governors Sule Lamido of Jigawa State and Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto State, among others.
“The mini-gathering was a testament to the esteem in which His Excellency Atiku Abubakar is held and the significance of the occasion.”
The proposal came from the family of Kashim Imam, a well-known political figure. The gathering marked a significant moment for both families as they moved forward with the formalities of uniting through marriage.

He shared how she initially ignored him despite his attempts through a friend to get her attention.
“I met my wife in Babcock. I remember the day I saw her, I was in a Prado. I looked behind and I saw her walking and it was Chioma. I told Lati I like that girl. I told him to call her but she snubbed me. Later on she came to Lagos and then we linked up.”
