Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has named his top three Premier League midfielders of all time, and surprisingly, Kevin De Bruyne and Frank Lampard didn’t make the cut.

Speaking on his YouTube show, Rio Ferdinand Presents, the former defender said no one should rate De Bruyne above Steven Gerrard. “De Bruyne’s not better than Gerrard on any day of the week,” he said.

Ferdinand picked Steven Gerrard, Paul Scholes, and Roy Keane as his ultimate midfield trio, leaving out big names like Patrick Vieira, Lampard, and De Bruyne, who he said came close but didn’t quite make it.

He described those six as his “Holy Grail midfielders,” but made it clear that Gerrard, Scholes, and Keane stood out the most for him.
