“Fighting for the Champions League Isn’t the Worst Thing” – Guardiola on City’s Tough Season
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has opened up about his team’s rough season and couldn’t resist throwing a light jab at rivals Manchester United.
City, who usually dominate the Premier League, have struggled this time around. They’re no longer in the title race and are battling just to secure a Champions League spot. Right now, they sit in fifth place, with Aston Villa and Chelsea close behind.
Ahead of their upcoming match against Everton, Guardiola told reporters that while the situation isn’t ideal, it could be a lot worse. “Fighting for the Champions League isn’t the worst thing,” he said. “It shows we’ve done some things right over the last few months. People say we’re fourth, but it could’ve easily been 11th, 12th, 13th, or 14th.”
That final remark seemed aimed at United, who are sitting in 14th place after losing 14 out of their 32 games this season.
