Nigerian filmmaker Funke Akindele has spoken about her admiration for Tyler Perry, revealing that his work has inspired her journey as a filmmaker.

She explained that watching his movies and seeing the characters he created motivated her creatively and encouraged her to keep growing.

She shared “Today, many upcoming filmmakers say they’ve learnt from my work, and I’m truly grateful for that. That’s how creativity is passed on. We learn, we grow and we inspire others. Never be ashamed of where you started. Keep learning. Keep growing.”

She also revealed on X that Tyler Perry remains one of her biggest role models.
