Originally launched in 2001, “Shrek” became a cultural phenomenon, spawning sequels in 2004, 2007, and 2010, along with spinoffs and a Broadway musical. Despite ups and downs, the franchise maintained popularity through memes and spinoff content like “Puss in Boots.”
The revival of “Shrek 5” follows longstanding plans for sequels initiated by DreamWorks, with recent updates including involvement from Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri and ongoing development led by writer Michael McCullers and director Walt Dohrn. Further details on the plot and casting are yet to be revealed.
