Gunmen Abduct Anglican Archdeacon in Anambra State
Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have reportedly abducted Ven. David Arinze Ajaefobi, the Archdeacon of Oyi Central Archdeaconry and Vicar of St. James’ Parish in Awkuzu, located in Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra State. The incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 26, 2024, near the gate of the church.
As of the time of this report, no contact has been made by the abductors. The Anambra State Police spokesperson, Tochukwu Ikenga, stated that the command has not yet received a formal report on the incident. However, a senior police official confirmed the abduction to journalists on Sunday.
Ven. Ajaefobi, who was inducted as the vicar of St. James Parish on April 10, 2022, serves within the Diocese on the Niger of the Anglican Communion. Authorities are expected to initiate an investigation into the incident to locate and secure his release.

Concern Grows Over Rising Insecurity Following Kwara Abduction Case
It was reported that bandits were seen in Kwara State and abducted six residents from Rukpete Village.
The incident was reported to have occurred on June 8 at about 11 p.m.
Sources revealed that seven people were initially taken, but an elderly man was later released, leaving six victims in captivity.
