Kebbi to Regain Full Power Supply by June 19 as Repairs are Almost Complete

Residents of Kebbi State can expect power to return soon, as the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has confirmed that full electricity supply will be restored on or before Thursday, June 19, 2025. The state has been dealing with a prolonged blackout for nearly two months after major transmission towers on the Kainji–Birnin Kebbi 330kV line collapsed.
The situation worsened when two more towers were brought down by a windstorm in Galadima Village, Shanga Local Government Area, cutting off power to more areas. To ease the pressure, some electricity was temporarily redirected from the Shiroro Power Station in Niger State, but it wasn’t enough to meet the state’s full needs. Many homes and businesses have had to depend on generators and solar energy to get by.
According to TCN, repair work on the damaged towers is now in its final stages. Engineers are working day and night to ensure that the June 19 deadline is met. Once the repairs are complete, Kebbi will be reconnected to the national grid through the Kainji–Birnin Kebbi line, bringing steady power back to the state—just in time to support increased electricity use during the rainy season.

Nigerians React with Anger as Students Brutally Fail WAEC 2025

WAEC is currently facing intense backlash after releasing the results of the 2025 May/June West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE). The results have caused conversations, with students, parents, teachers, and education experts expressing concern over the poor performance.
Only 38% of candidates passed with five credits, including English Language and Mathematics, subjects necessary for gaining admission into higher institutions. This marks a steep drop from the 72.12% success rate recorded in 2024, making it one of the lowest performances in recent years.
On X, education advocate Dr. Richard Ayo-Dairo (@RArakunrin) suggested the midnight timing of the English exam may have contributed to the poor performance. “No one is talking about the WAEC 2025 Midnight English Language examination, which clearly played a role in the mass failure,” he wrote. “Someone needs to be held accountable. This is about the future of our children.”
Another user, Femi Organ (@FemiOrgan), blamed an issue. “How many students today can even speak proper English, let alone write it? And those who speak well can’t explain or use it meaningfully. Shortcuts and slang have taken over,” he said. “WAEC is just the mirror. The real problem is around us.”

Gov. Adeleke Travels to the U.S. to Attend Davido and Chioma’s White Wedding in Miami

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has travelled to the United States to attend the white wedding of his nephew and famous Nigerian singer, Davido. Davido had earlier revealed that he and his wife, Chioma Avril Rowland, would be having their white wedding in Miami, Florida, this August. He made the announcement during a recent appearance on The Breakfast Club, which aired on April 8, 2025.
The governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, confirmed the trip in a statement, responding to speculations about Adeleke’s sudden absence raised by the opposition APC. Rasheed explained that Governor Adeleke left the country a few days ago using the family’s private jet to be present at the wedding of his nephew, whom he described as a global music star.
He also extended an invitation to members of the opposition to join the celebration, either in person or virtually. He noted that since assuming office in November 2022, Governor Adeleke has not taken an official vacation and decided to keep this trip short to stay committed to his duties. According to him, the governor remains in touch with his deputy, Prince Kola Adewusi, who is overseeing state matters during his absence.

Diddy Seeks Donald Trump’s Pardon to Help Him Avoid Jail

Nicole Westmoreland, part of the legal team defending music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs, has confirmed that efforts are underway to secure a presidential pardon from Donald Trump ahead of Diddy’s upcoming sentencing. Diddy is scheduled to be sentenced on October 3, following his recent conviction in New York on two counts of transporting individuals for prostitution, charges that could land him up to 20 years in prison.
In an interview with CNN, Westmoreland revealed that conversations about a possible pardon have already taken place. “We’ve reached out and had discussions regarding a pardon,” she said. However, the chances appear slim. While Trump has acknowledged having a friendly relationship with Diddy, he made it clear in a recent Newsmax interview that their connection doesn’t guarantee leniency.
Asked directly if he would pardon the rapper, Trump replied, “I would say so, yeah,” suggesting he’s unlikely to intervene. Diddy’s legal team continues to explore all options as his sentencing date approaches.
