Lagos Police Arrest Robbers Targeting Sex Workers
The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a gang of robbers accused of targeting and robbing three commercial sex workers on Adeniran Ogunsanya Street in Surulere. According to police spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin, the two suspects were detained on August 28, 2024, for the robbery that occurred on August 23, 2024.
The suspects had initially sought the services of the victims but then stopped their vehicle midway and stole valuables, including two iPhones worth N1.5 million, a Redmi Note 12 valued at N140,000, and an iPhone XR. They also coerced the victims into transferring N33,000 to a specified account.
Hundeyin reported that the victims were able to identify the suspects, leading to their arrest. The police have recovered one of the stolen phones, a Toyota Camry, and two blank plates used by the robbers. The incident highlights a recurring problem in Lagos and Ogun States, where robbers frequently target sex workers. Similar crimes were reported in 2018, where a gang was caught stealing from sex workers and selling the stolen items to others in Lagos.

Analyst Says Tinubu Not Responsible for Recent U.S.-Linked Airstrike Claims
Nigerian news analyst, Mahmud Jega, has shared his opinion on the recent airstrike carried out by the United States in Nigeria, stating that Nigerians should not blame President Bola Tinubu for the incident.
Jega made this statement during a recent interview, where he said he does not believe many people will hold the Tinubu administration responsible, as Donald Trump had issued threats against Nigeria long before Tinubu’s administration.
“No, I don’t think many people will blame the Tinubu administration for what is happening now because President Donald Trump, when he first made the threats, it was clearly not in coordination with the Tinubu administration or the government of Nigeria,” Jega said.
