Liverpool Wants Alexander Isak but May Go for Ekitike If Newcastle Refuse to Sell
Liverpool have reportedly reached out directly to Newcastle United to explore a potential record-breaking move for Swedish striker Alexander Isak. But if Newcastle refuse to sell, the Reds are ready to turn their attention to Hugo Ekitike, currently at Eintracht Frankfurt.
Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano revealed that Newcastle have no intention of letting go of Isak and have even offered him a new contract to keep him at the club. The Ekitike situation is still developing. Newcastle have already submitted an offer close to €80 million, but Frankfurt are holding out for more. Romano added that Liverpool will only push for Ekitike if Newcastle shut the door on an Isak transfer.
Newcastle remain actively involved in talks for Ekitike, but much of their plan depends on how things unfold with Isak. In other news, Manchester City have confirmed Kolo Toure as a permanent member of Pep Guardiola’s coaching team. Romano had earlier hinted at the move back in May, and the former Ivory Coast international has now officially signed his contract.
