Moro Says PDP Could Have Won 2023 Election Without Okowa as VP
Senator Abba Moro, representing Benue South, has argued that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) could have won the 2023 presidential election if it had chosen a different vice-presidential candidate instead of former Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.
In an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today program, Moro described the decision to select Okowa as Atiku Abubakar’s running mate as a “serious mistake.” He pointed out that Okowa’s failure to deliver his home state of Delta in the election raised doubts about his commitment to the party. According to Moro, Okowa’s regret over his role in the election, coupled with his subsequent defection to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), further underscored his lack of dedication.
Moro went on to say that, with the benefit of hindsight, PDP might have secured a victory if someone else from the South had been selected as the vice-presidential candidate. He criticized the judgment of those involved in picking Okowa, especially given that a sitting governor and former senator couldn’t secure his own state for the party.
He concluded that Okowa’s actions revealed a deep lack of loyalty to the PDP, contributing to the party’s poor performance in Delta State and the overall election loss.

First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has shared that she has forgiven those who betrayed her husband during the 2023 general elections.
She revealed this as she marked a new age, reflecting on what the future holds. She emphasized that she holds no grudge against anyone.
“I do not have anything against anyone. The question is how I stopped feeling the betrayal? I knew the grace factor was evident, and the Holy Spirit continually comforted me. I chose never to avenge myself, understanding that it is God’s prerogative. Mine is to thank Him for fighting for us.
