New DSS Director General Adeola Ajayi Assumes Office

Adeola Ajayi has officially taken over as the new Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS), succeeding Yusuf Bichi. Appointed by President Bola Tinubu, Ajayi assumed his role on August 28, 2024.

During the handover, Bichi briefed Ajayi on key issues, and both reflected on their past collaboration and mutual respect. Ajayi was introduced to the DSS staff, and he emphasized a renewed focus on discretion and strategic silence regarding certain matters.

Ajayi has pledged to address Nigeria’s security challenges through collaboration with stakeholders, aiming for peace and stability. He urged DSS staff to maintain vigilance, dedication, and professionalism. Bichi encouraged the staff to support Ajayi in his new role to ensure the continued success of the service.

Concern Grows Over Rising Insecurity Following Kwara Abduction Case

It was reported that bandits were seen in Kwara State and abducted six residents from Rukpete Village.

The incident was reported to have occurred on June 8 at about 11 p.m.

Sources revealed that seven people were initially taken, but an elderly man was later released, leaving six victims in captivity.

The rising cases of insecurity in the country remain quite alarming.
