Nigeria Faces Surge in Polio Cases Due to Low Immunization Rates
Nigeria is witnessing an alarming spread of circulating variant poliovirus type 2 (cVPV2), with 70 cases recorded across 14 northern states, according to the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA).
Dr. Muyi Aina, NPHCDA Executive Director, attributed the rise to low immunization rates and vaccine refusals.
He called for renewed efforts to improve vaccination coverage, urging religious leaders to promote health services.
