NLC Accuses Tinubu of Betrayal Over Fuel Price Hike

Published

on

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has accused President Bola Tinubu of betrayal following a significant increase in fuel prices. In a statement by NLC President Joe Ajaero, the labor body expressed outrage over the clandestine hike in the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), calling it a breach of trust.

The NLC noted that one of the reasons they agreed to the N70,000 national minimum wage was the assurance that fuel prices would remain stable, criticizing the government for implementing harsh market policies that have worsened living conditions for Nigerians.

The NLC also condemned the government’s crackdown on protesters, including the arrest and detention of citizens on what they describe as trumped-up charges. They demanded the immediate reversal of the fuel price hike, the release of detained protesters, and an end to policies that exacerbate poverty and insecurity. The NLC vowed to stand firm with the Nigerian people and warned that they would take decisive actions in the coming days to address these issues.
