Nnadozie says her Ballon d’Or nomination is a miracle as the first Nigerian and African
Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie has described her nomination for the 2025 Women’s Ballon d’Or as nothing short of a miracle.
At just 24, she becomes the first African female goalkeeper to earn a spot on the shortlist for the prestigious award, a recognition that crowns her outstanding performances for both club and country.
Nnadozie played a key role in Paris FC’s triumph in the Coupe de France Féminine before departing the club in May. She then went on to shine for Nigeria, helping the Super Falcons clinch their record 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title in Morocco, where she was also named the tournament’s best goalkeeper.
Reflecting on the honour, Nnadozie told BBC Sport that the nomination is proof that her hard work and dedication over the years have truly paid off.
