“Power Will Be Back in the North Within Five Days” – Adelabu Assures Residents
Minister of Power, Mr Adebayo Adelabu, has reassured that the power supply to the 17 northern states experiencing a blackout due to the recent vandalization of the Shiroro-Kaduna transmission line will soon be restored.
He gave this update after meeting with President Bola Tinubu, expressing confidence that power would be back within the next five days.
Adelabu explained that the President has directed the National Security Adviser (NSA) and other security agencies to ensure adequate protection for the repair teams.
With full security in place, workers from the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), alongside contractors, will feel secure enough to head to the site and carry out repairs without disruption.
He acknowledged the impact of the blackout on communities in the north, describing it as a shared concern.
Addressing the region directly, he urged patience and understanding, assuring citizens that electricity would soon return.
Adelabu also emphasized the need for collective effort in safeguarding the national grid, noting that it’s critical for long-term stability and avoiding future incidents.
