Rio Ferdinand Criticizes Zirkzee for Passing Late Chance Against Liverpool
Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has criticized the club’s summer signing Joshua Zirkzee for his decision to pass the ball to Harry Maguire in the final moments of their dramatic 2-2 draw against Liverpool on Sunday.
Ferdinand believes Zirkzee should have taken matters into his own hands and attempted to score the game-winning goal himself, rather than looking for a pass to Maguire.
Speaking on the “Rio Ferdinand Presents” podcast, Ferdinand didn’t hold back in expressing his frustration.
He said, “After all of that, I would have gone into the changing room and said, ‘What kind of pass was that? We could’ve won the game.’”
He added, “Zirkzee is clearly lacking in confidence, but you have to make the right decision in those moments.
It’s all about the details, and you have to communicate with your teammates the way you want to be communicated with.”

“We have to prepare physically so that during the season we have fewer injuries and we can count on everybody. Monday was a double session, Tuesday is one session. So let’s go. Today we did a bit of work in the gym and a short session to load our legs some more.”
