Rivers State Government Denies Ordering Shutdown of NNPCL and Federal Offices
The Rivers State Government has firmly refuted circulating claims that Governor Sir Siminialayi Fubara ordered the closure of the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) office and other federal government offices within the state.
In an official statement from the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Warisenibo Joseph Johnson, the government dismissed the reports as baseless and fabricated, warning that such misinformation could harm public trust and stir unnecessary panic.
Johnson emphasized that the Rivers State Government prioritizes transparency and urged residents to rely on official sources for accurate updates.
Labeling the rumors as “propaganda from enemies of the governor and the state,” Johnson stated, “Governor Siminialayi Fubara is committed to the rule of law and does not rely on unconventional methods for governance.”
The commissioner urged the public to disregard the false report and reaffirmed that no order was given to shut down any federal operations within Rivers State.
