Sanwo-Olu Calls for Unity and Highlights Reforms Amid Protests
In a recent statement on his X handle, the Governor of Lagos emphasized his commitment to the state’s well-being and prosperity, amid ongoing discussions about protests aimed at “bad government.”
While acknowledging the challenges Lagos faces, the Governor expressed concern that protests might undermine the progress made rather than address the root issues.
The Governor highlighted recent government efforts to improve the state’s economic situation, including President Tinubu’s new minimum wage law, student loan disbursements, and local government financial autonomy.
Additionally, initiatives such as the sale of crude oil to local refineries in Naira and the Presidential Initiative on CNG are aimed at addressing the foreign exchange crisis and attracting private investment.
The Governor also pointed to Lagos’ EKOCARES program, which includes measures like discount markets, reduced transport costs, and free medical care, as part of the state’s effort to cushion the effects of economic reforms.
Increased bursaries, scholarships, and free education for new elementary students are also part of the state’s commitment to its people.
Reflecting on the EndSARS protests of 2020, the Governor cautioned against allowing history to repeat itself, citing the destruction of valuable properties and the economic setbacks that followed.
He urged Lagosians to avoid economic destabilization and focus on unity, dialogue, and peaceful progress.
To facilitate safe and peaceful protests, designated locations such as Gani Fawehinmi Park and Peace Park will be secured by the Police.
The Governor concluded by calling for a united effort to build a safe, secure, and prosperous Lagos.

Analyst Says Tinubu Not Responsible for Recent U.S.-Linked Airstrike Claims
Nigerian news analyst, Mahmud Jega, has shared his opinion on the recent airstrike carried out by the United States in Nigeria, stating that Nigerians should not blame President Bola Tinubu for the incident.
Jega made this statement during a recent interview, where he said he does not believe many people will hold the Tinubu administration responsible, as Donald Trump had issued threats against Nigeria long before Tinubu’s administration.
“No, I don’t think many people will blame the Tinubu administration for what is happening now because President Donald Trump, when he first made the threats, it was clearly not in coordination with the Tinubu administration or the government of Nigeria,” Jega said.
