Taye Currency Speaks out After Losing N10 Million to CBEX Platform
Popular Fuji artist Taye Currency has spoken out after losing N10 million to the now-defunct digital trading platform, CBEX.
The platform, which reportedly shut down on Monday, April 14, 2025, is said to have vanished with over N1.3 trillion in investors’ funds. This locked users out of their accounts and left many in shock.
During a recent live show, Taye Currency opened up about his painful experience in a video that has now gone viral. Speaking in Yoruba, the singer expressed deep frustration and cursed those who encouraged him to invest in the scheme.
According to him, four close associates—Sodiq, Alaba, Brother Muca, and his band manager Lateef—were all involved. They each invested large sums, including Alaba who allegedly stole N1.2 million during a performance just to join the scheme.
Taye Currency said he felt like he would develop high blood pressure if he didn’t speak out. He addef that he trusted his team with the N10 million investment which disappeared when the platform crashed.
He’s now believed to be the first public figure in Nigeria to openly admit losing money to the collapsed platform.
