Two Children Killed in Fatal Car Crash on Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway

Two children have tragically lost their lives following a single-car accident involving a Toyota Camry on the Lagos-Abeokuta expressway, near Kere Itori.

The incident, which took place late Saturday night around 11:00 p.m., was confirmed by Mrs. Florence Okpe, the spokesperson for the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun State, through a statement issued in Abeokuta on Sunday.

Mrs. Okpe attributed the cause of the accident to speeding, emphasizing that the vehicle, bearing registration number AGL 36 JA, was overcrowded with passengers at the time of the crash.

According to her, a total of nine individuals were involved, consisting of seven men, one male child, and one female child.

Sadly, both children, a boy and a girl, lost their lives in the accident. The other passengers sustained varying degrees of injuries.

Emergency responders quickly transported the injured victims to the General Hospital in Ifo for medical treatment. The bodies of the two deceased children were taken to a nearby morgue.

Mrs. Okpe used the tragic event as an opportunity to remind motorists of the importance of adhering to traffic regulations, especially with regard to speeding and overloading.

She urged all drivers to exercise caution and be responsible on the roads to prevent further accidents of this nature.

The spokesperson extended her condolences to the families of the victims, stressing the ongoing efforts of the FRSC to promote road safety and reduce accidents across the country.

979 Forests to Be Taken Down as Northern States Intensify Security Efforts

It has been reported that Niger State and some northern states have come together and agreed to take down 979 forests in order to strengthen national security.

This was revealed by the Niger State Governor, represented by his deputy, Yakubu Garba, at the passing-out parade in Mutum Daya.

He also shared that the government will support in any way they can in order to achieve this and strengthen security in Nigeria.

“The state will make necessary arrangements to support and empower the Forest Guard families for their service to the nation. We will provide them with adequate healthcare insurance scheme.”

Nigerian news analyst, Mahmud Jega, has shared his opinion on the recent airstrike carried out by the United States in Nigeria, stating that Nigerians should not blame President Bola Tinubu for the incident.

Jega made this statement during a recent interview, where he said he does not believe many people will hold the Tinubu administration responsible, as Donald Trump had issued threats against Nigeria long before Tinubu’s administration.

United States Launches Airstrike on ISIS Targets in Northwest Nigeria

It has been reported that the United States carried out an airstrike targeting ISIS in the northwest region of Nigeria. The order was reportedly given by former U.S. President Donald Trump.
