Victor Boniface Says His Move To Al Nassr Failed at the Last Minute
Victor Boniface has opened up about how a big-money move from Bayer Leverkusen to Al Nassr fell apart at the very last minute. The Nigerian striker had everything in place, he had agreed personal terms with the Saudi club, passed his medical, and was looking forward to playing alongside Cristiano Ronaldo.
The deal, which would have earned him around €45 million over three years, seemed all but done. But despite Bayer Leverkusen and Al Nassr reaching an agreement, the Saudi club made a sudden switch in plans and chose to sign Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran instead.
Speaking on The Culture League podcast, Boniface shared just how close he came to leaving, “I was ready. Bags packed. I live in Cologne, and we had already driven to Frankfurt,” he said.
He admitted the money involved was massive and revealed he had already given away many of his designer clothes and shoes to friends back home. “The flight was ready. I was in my hotel room praying for it to happen… but it just didn’t go through in the end.”
