Nigerian gospel singer Victoria Orenze has expressed frustration over the silence of some ministers and Christians whom she accused of using religion for profit.

“Honestly, I am disappointed in some ministers and churchgoers who just use the name of the Lord for profit!” she said.

She added “Those who don’t hear God but yet want to speak on His behalf! Whenever a few are benefiting from a government, they say the government is working. God cannot be mocked!”

Social commentator Solomon Buchi has reacted to gospel singer Yinka Alaseyori‘s comments on the current state of the country.

He claimed that prayer alone cannot solve Nigeria’s problems and that it must be backed by action.

“I mean this very respectfully. I am a Christian and I believe in prayers, but prayers will not do for us what God has given us the ability to do for ourselves.”

He added “Some of you gospel ministers and even pastors are sellouts. You have sold your conscience to politicians. You have them donating to your programs and ministries, so it is very easy for you to come on social media and say, ‘Oh no, the president and vice president are working.'”
