‘We Wanted to Win for Him’ — Mbappé on Deschamps’ Final Match
French footballer Kylian Mbappé has reacted to France’s 6-4 defeat to England in the FIFA World Cup third-place match on Saturday.
Mbappé admitted that the team wanted to end manager Didier Deschamps’ tenure on a high by securing a victory.
He said “We didn’t win, and that is a shame for the coach. We wanted to do something for him, and the first half gave the impression that we let him down, even if that wasn’t the feeling we intended.”
“But we want to thank him for everything he’s done. This match won’t tarnish Didier Deschamps’ legend.”
Manchester United manager Michael Carrick sends out a message that he needs more players before the summer transfer window ends.
He revealed in a recent interview “We want more, we need more, we keep looking for how we can do that. Money’s money, I understand that. We believe we must strive for success in every competition we participate in, while remaining realistic about our recent history over time.
“For now, we must maximise our current situation, but we need to push every limit possible to achieve victory again, essentially. That is the challenge.”
