Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has made it clear he won’t rush Rodri’s return from injury, saying he won’t take any “stupid” risks.

Rodri recently resumed training after being sidelined for over five months due to a cruciate knee ligament injury he suffered against Arsenal. Initially ruled out for the season, there is now hope he could make a comeback before the campaign ends.

Guardiola acknowledged the excitement around Rodri’s recovery but stressed the need for caution. He hinted that the midfielder might feature in the final Premier League games or the latter stages of the FA Cup but ruled out an early return.

“The fans aren’t the only ones excited. It’s been five, six months, but we need to take it step by step. We can’t make stupid decisions just to bring him back sooner,” Guardiola said.

He added that while Rodri has started touching the ball and interacting with teammates in the locker room, he is still not close to returning. However, Guardiola admitted there’s now a possibility he could play before the season ends.
