Wike Says PDP Can Still Stand Strong if Greed and Pride Don’t Tear It Apart

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has made it clear that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will survive, despite the internal issues rocking it. Wike gave this assurance on Monday evening while hosting a meeting with key party members under the banner of “Concerned Stakeholders of the PDP.”
In attendance were former governors like Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu, Samuel Ortom of Benue, and Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia. Also present were the PDP National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, ex-Senate Minority Leader Philip Aduda, current and former lawmakers, as well as zonal and state executives.
Wike praised the group, saying they’re not just people who make noise in the media but real members who have shown genuine commitment to the party’s progress. He highlighted the role of the G5 Governors, saying their decisions helped stabilize the country. According to him, if not for the steps taken by the G5, Nigeria would have been in deeper crisis.
He insisted that the PDP’s current problems stem from its failure to listen to warnings in the past. Wike emphasized that the party must respect both its internal rules and the country’s constitution. He added that as an opposition, the PDP cannot afford to act with arrogance or impunity. Instead of pushing people away, he said, the focus should be on unity and reconciliation. “Let’s not let greed and pride destroy our party,” he warned.

Governor Adeleke Says He’s Staying in PDP and Will Keep Serving Osun State

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has dismissed rumours that he plans to dump the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), making it clear that he’s staying put.
Speaking during the flag-off of the 3.5km Ila township road dualisation project in Ila-Orangun, Adeleke reaffirmed his commitment to both the party and the people of the state. He stressed that his mission remains focused on service and development, not political distractions.
Despite the uncertainty in the country, Adeleke expressed joy over the kickoff of the road project, describing it as a step forward in his administration’s promise to transform infrastructure across Osun.
He proudly highlighted the achievements so far, saying his government has already completed over 175 kilometres of roadwork. He also noted that several other major projects, including flyovers and dualised roads, are actively progressing.
One of the key projects, according to him, is the 39km Osogbo–Ikirun–Inisha–Okuku–Ijabe–Ila Odo road that links the state to Kwara. Adeleke stressed that its completion is a top priority for his administration.
“I was elected under the PDP and I will remain in the PDP,” Adeleke said. “We’ve started a second phase that’s almost as long as what took 12 years to finish. By God’s grace, we’ll complete it within a year.” He ended by calling the gathering a divine moment, saying everyone present is part of a bigger plan guided by God.

“Buhari Would Have Supported EndSARS Protest If It Was Peaceful” – Garba Shehu

Garba Shehu, former spokesperson for late President Muhammadu Buhari, has said the former leader would have supported the EndSARS protests if they had remained peaceful. Speaking during an interview on Arise TV’s Morning Show, Shehu noted that Buhari initially saw the movement as a genuine expression of public concern and would have welcomed it.
However, Shehu explained that things took a different turn when the protests were overtaken by violence, vandalism, and attacks on law enforcement. He pointed out that the government responded early with offers of dialogue and even took steps like disbanding SARS to address the concerns raised.
But according to him, once the protest turned into a security crisis, marked by arson, destruction of public property, and loss of lives, no responsible government could sit back and watch. He emphasized that Buhari was deeply disturbed by how things unfolded, especially with the chaos in Lagos and other cities, and hoped such an incident never happens again in Nigeria.
