EFCC Recovers Over N248 Billion and Seizes Assets from Nigerian Fraudsters in Canada
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has announced significant recoveries amounting to N248.75 billion, $105.42 million, £53,133, €172,547, and other foreign currencies, including ¥74,859 in Chinese Yuan and CFA 7,821,375 West African Francs, between October 18, 2023, and October 18, 2024.
Chairman Olukoyede highlighted a notable international asset recovery on September 6, when the EFCC returned $180,300 and 53 vehicles to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP). These assets, taken from Nigerian fraudsters who targeted Canadian citizens, included $164,000 belonging to a victim named Elena Bogomas and $16,300 to Sandra Butler.
Olukoyede also revealed ongoing high-profile corruption cases, with four former governors—Yahaya Bello, Abdulfatah Ahmed, Willie Obiano, and Darius Ishaku—facing charges.
Former ministers Saleh Mamman and Olu Agunloye are also under prosecution, while former Aviation Minister Hadi Sirika is on trial for alleged fraud involving N5.8 billion and N2.8 billion.

Akpabio Represents Tinubu at Lagos Bridge Commissioning
It has been reported that Bola Ahmed Tinubu was absent at the commissioning of the Opebi-Mende Link Bridge, which took place on April 8, 2026.
However, Senate President Godswill Akpabio represented the President and carried out the ceremony.

Residents of Lagos should prepare for traffic disruptions as several roads will be closed due to the visit of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who is set to commission infrastructural projects.
The commissioning will take place on April 8 and 9, 2026.

Opebi, Allen Avenue, Ikeja, Ojota, and Victoria Island.

Lekki-Epe Expressway, Ikoyi, Victoria Island, and Ajegunle.
Motorists are advised to plan alternative routes and expect heavy traffic during these periods.
