NASU and SSANU Announce Nationwide Protest Over Withheld Salaries
The Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU) and the Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Universities (SSANU) have declared a nationwide protest starting on Tuesday, July 9, 2024.
This move follows failed negotiations with the Ministers of Education and Labour over withheld salaries and unresolved grievances.
The protests will begin at state chapters and culminate in a national protest in Abuja on July 18.
The unions have also indicated that an indefinite strike may follow if their demands are not met.

Federal Government Declares March 19 and 20 Public Holidays for Eid al-Fitr
Federal Government in Nigeria has declared March 19th and 20th as public holidays for the end of Ramadan.
This was revealed by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo. He made this announcement on behalf of the Federal Government.
He wished Muslims a joyful Eid al-Fitr celebration.

The president of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, shared updates on the state of the economy and shared good news stating that there is a rise in financial stability.
He shared that some states can now pay salaries without borrowing money.
It is noted that this change is significant over the past years of states borrowing money.
Back then the states struggled to pay and meet their needs, but are doing better now and the struggles have reduced, stating that the state of the economy is getting better.
