Oxlade Reveals He Started Singing Before He Could Talk

Nigerian artist Ikuforiji Olaitan Abdulrahman, widely known as Oxlade, recently shared a remarkable story about his early musical beginnings.

In an appearance on the ’90s Babies’ podcast, the singer revealed that his musical journey started even before he could form words.

According to Oxlade, his parents told him that he began singing before he was able to speak, a unique aspect of his childhood that left a lasting impression.

Oxlade reflected on how his love for music seemed to have developed naturally from a very young age.

He explained that, as a child, he found himself able to sing before he could fully grasp talking.

“I started singing before I started talking,” he shared. “My parents told me that I was singing before I could even speak properly.”

The singer believes this early connection to music laid the foundation for his talent, shaping his future as one of Nigeria’s leading voices in the Afrobeats scene.
