Burna Boy Says His New Album Shows How He Stayed Strong Even When Life Got Hard

Grammy-winning Nigerian artist Burna Boy has opened up about the inspiration behind his upcoming album, saying his journey in music has been driven by sheer resilience. Speaking during an interview with NSTV, the Afro-fusion star, whose real name is Damini Ogulu, revealed that despite facing overwhelming challenges that could have broken him, he refused to give in.

“I’ve had more than enough reasons to give up on life, but I never did,” he said. “This album is a reflection of that. It’s about not showing any sign of weakness, no matter what. I want the next generation to carry that same energy—never back down.”

Titled No Sign of Weakness, this will be Burna Boy’s eighth studio album. It’s set to drop on July 11, 2025, under Atlantic Records, Spaceship, and Bad Habit. The album promises a deep dive into his struggles, strength, and the mindset that’s kept him going in the face of pressure.

Nigerian singer Ycee reacts to the viral and trending akara skits that emerged after the advice given by the First Lady of Nigeria, Oluremi Tinubu.

It can be recalled that the First Lady shared that Nigerians can fight unemployment by going into the akara or corn business to sustain themselves in the current economy.

Following her comments, content creator Gilmore made a skit about selling akara, to which Ycee reacted “To all of you yelling ‘satire.'”

“The entire idea of satire as a literary device is to use humor, be entertaining, while also criticizing and exposing the issue at the base of the content.
